In 605 B.C. Nebuchadnezzar's father sent him out to conquer Egypt.
Nebopolasser died on Nebuchadnezzar's return from Egypt.
Egyptians fled to a district of Hamath, and in a 2nd battle Nebuchadnezzar crushed them and took all of Hatti.
On his way returning home he accepted the treaty of Jerusalem.
Leader of Judah did not pay anual tribute to Bablyon thinking Egyptians would conquer Babylonians and he would not have to pay, however Egyptians got crushed and the leader of Judah died before Nebuchadnezzar got a chance to get to him.
Nebuchadnezzar later returned to Jerusalem and took over it after a 2 year battle.

Egypt would have been conquered earlier however Nebuchadnezzar reached the Egyptian border and turned around when he heard of his father's death.
