Became king after serving as commander of army.

His father died in 605 B.C. which is when he became King.

As king he married daughter of Cyaxarus and united Median and Babylonian dynasties.

He conquered Judah, destroyed Jerusalem, he carried the Jewish people as captives to Babylon.

He was a religous man and is mentioned in Daniel and Jerimiah in the Bible.
